The Italian Moka

The Italian Moka

There are objects that become part of the history of coffee, and the Italian moka pot is undoubtedly one of them.

Since its creation in 1933 by Alfonso Bialetti, this iconic coffee maker has been a symbol of tradition, design and the art of preparing an intense and aromatic coffee, in the best European style.

The moka

The moka pot was born in Italy, inspired by the espresso machines of the time.
Bialetti was looking for a simple way to bring the espresso coffee experience into the home, and he succeeded with a design that has remained almost unchanged for decades.

Its octagonal shape, originally made of aluminum, is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional, distributing heat evenly to extract all the flavor from the coffee.

How does it work?
The Moka pot has three parts:

1. The lower tank: where the water is placed
2. The Filter: where the ground coffee is added
3. The top part: where the brewed coffee rises

How it works

When water boils, the steam generates pressure and pushes the water upwards, through the ground coffee, extracting its natural oils and flavors. The result is an intense, full-bodied beverage with a perfect aroma for those who enjoy a coffee with character.

The taste of Mocha:
Moka pot coffee is characterized by its robust and aromatic profile, more concentrated than filter coffee and less strong than espresso. Ideal for those seeking a balanced cup with sweet, chocolatey, or fruity notes, depending on the origin of the beans.
